The Daytona race was won by the Henn's Swap Shop Porsche PORSCHE 962 driven by AJ Foyt, Bob Wollek, Al Unser and Thierry Boutsen, who won over Al Holbert, Al Unser Jr and Derek Bell in the Holbert Racing car. Jim Busby, Rick Knoop and Jochen Mass finished third in the BF Goodrich car. Kelly Marsh, Ron Pawley and Don Marsh won the Lights class in an Argo JM16 Mazda, edging Jim Downing, John Maffucci and Yoshimi Katayama in an Argo JM16 Mazda. John Jones, Wally Dallenbach Jr and Doc Bundy crushed the GTO opposition and won the race over the Mazda RX7 driven by Danny Smith, Tom Waugh and Diego Febles. Amos Johnson, Jack Dunham and Yojiro Terada took another GTU win in a Mazda RX7. Scott Pruett, Paul Lewis and Joe Varde finished second.
Al Holbert and Derek Bell won the Miami race after fighting against the March 85G Chevrolet driven by Darin Brassfield and David Hobbs. Emerson Fittipaldi and Tony Garcia, in a Ralph Sanchez sponsored March 84G Chevrolet, were third. Jim Downing and John Maffucci took the Lights class over Don Courtney and Brent O'neill in a Royale RP40 Ford. Willy T.Ribbs and John Jones won the GTO race with Walt Bohren coming in third place. Jack Baldwin won the GTU race ahead of Scott Pruett, both driving Mazda RX7s.
AJ Foyt and Bob Wollek packed up the Sebring race in a Porsche 962, with Al Holbert and Derek Bell finishing in second place after an early shunt with a slower car. Jim Downing and John Maffucci took the Lights victory, just ahead of the Fordrd Mustang driven by Wally Dallenbach Jr and John Jones, who again won the GTO class. Gary Auberlen, Peter Jauker and Adrian Gang won the GTU class in their Porsche 911, seven laps ahead of the Kendall Racing Mazda RX7 driven by Tom and Bart Kendall, along with Max Jones.
The Road Atlanta race was a total upset victory for the Group 44 team of Brian Redman and Hurley Haywood, at the wheel of a Jaguar XJR5, who finished just ahead of Bob Tullius and Chip Robinson. Bruce Leven and David Hobbs were in third place in a PORSCHE 962. Wally Dallenbach Jr and John Jones won again in GTO, three laps ahead of Chet Vincentz and Kees Nierop in a Porsche 934. Jack Baldwin took the GTU class, and the Nissan 200SX driven by Frank Carney and Dick Davenport was an outstanding second.
The Riverside round belonged to Pete Halsmer and John Morton, with Jim Busby and Rick Knoop taking the second place, giving the BF Goodrich team a fantastic 1-2. Third came the Jaguar XJR5 driven by Bob Tullius and Chip Robinson. Jim Downing and John Maffucci took the Lights class in their Argo JM16B Mazda, followed by Kelly Marsh and Don Marsh Argo JM16 Mazda. John Jones and Wally Dallenbach again won the GTO class in the Ford Mustang, with teammates Lyn St James and Bruce Jenner in second place. Jack Baldwin and Jeff Kline, in the Malibu Grand Prix Mazda RX7, won the GTU class. Bart and Tom Kendall, along with Bill Van, finished second.
Al Holbert ran and won solo the Laguna Seca race. Bob Tullius and Chip Robinson ended up second in the Jaguar XJR5, twenty five seconds down. Brian Redman and Hurley Haywood finished in third place. Bill Alsup, driving a Royale RP40 Buick, won his first Lights race, Jim Downing and Kelly Marsh came in second and third place. Dennis Aase won the GT race, and captured the GTO class win, with Billy Scyphers taking the second place in his Chevrolet Corvette. Bob Earl took the third place and won the GTU class in his Huffaker Racing Pontiac Fiero. Jack Baldwin was second, followed by Chris Cord, in a Toyota Celica.
At Charlotte, Al Holbert and Derek Bell won the race, beating Brian Redman and Hurley Haywood by 6s, Jim Busby and Rick Knoop were third in the BF Goodrich Porsche 962. Jim Downing and John Maffucci took a new victory in the Lights class, followed by Charles Morgan and Bill Alsup. Danny Smith won the GTO class, at the wheel of a 13B Mazda RX7. He was followed by Bob Earl, in a Pontiac Fiero, who won the GTU class, followed by Amos Johnson, in the Team Highball Mazda RX7. Billy Scyphers finished fourth, and second in GTO in his Chevrolet Corvette.
Drake Olson won the Lime Rock race, in the Dyson Racing Porsche 962, in his first race. Brian Redman and Hurley Haywood were second on the same lap as the winner. Pete Halsmer and John Morton finished third in a Porsche 962. Peter and Michael Greenfield won the Lights class in a Tiga GT285 Mazda, beating series leader Jim Downing and Whitne Ganz. Darin Brassfield, in the Brooks Racing Ford Thunderbird, won the GTO class race over Chris Cord, who won the GTU class and ended in second place. Roger Mandeville was third, and second in GTO, while Jack Baldwin was fourth and second in GTU, in a Mazda RX7.
Al Holbert and Derek Bell had a masterful race and won the Mid Ohio round, beating Bob Wollek and David Hobbs in the Bayside Disposal Porsche 962. Hurley Haywood and Chip Robinson finished in third place with the Jaguar XJR5. Jeff Kline and Jack Baldwin drove an Alba AR4 Mazda to the Lights victory, ahead of the Argo JM16B Mazda driven by Jim Downing and John Maffucci. John Jones and Wally Dallenbach Jr took the GT race and won the GTO class over Roger Mandeville's Mazda RX7, Lyn St James finished third. Clay Young drove the Entech Pontiac Fiero to the GTU victory, ahead of Jack Baldwin's Mazda RX7.
Al Holbert and Derek Bell took another win at Watkins Glen, but it was Klaus Ludwig and Doc Bundy who took the second place, in the new Ford Mustang Probe. Rob Dyson and Drake Olson finished third, one lap down. Charles Morgan and Bill Alsup were the Lights class winners, driving a Royale RP40 Buick. They finished ahead of Jeff Kline and Jack Baldwin, who drove an Alba AR4. Klaus Ludwig co-drove Darin Brassfield at the wheel of the Ford Thunderbird they drove to a GTO win, beating John Jones and Wally Dallenbach Jr, in the Roush Racing Ford Mustang. Tommy Riggins was third in a Pontiac Firebird. Bob Earl took another GTU win, and was ahead of Chris Cord at the chequered.
It was Al Holbert again at Portland, beating Bob Tullius and Chip Robinson's Jaguar XJR5. Drake Olson was consistant and finished third. Jim Downing was back in Victory Lane, and won the Lights class over Kelly Marsh and Jeff Kline. Darin Brassfield drove his Fordrd Thunderbird to a solo victory in the GT race, finishing ahead of John Jones and Wally Dallenbach Jr, followed by Dennis Aase in the Toyota Celica Tc. Bob Earl and Terry Visger finished 1-2 in GTU for a Pontiac Fiero total domination.
Bob Wollek was dominant at Sears Point in the Bayside Disposal Porsche 962. Klaus Ludwig and Doc Bundy took the second place and Rob Dyson and Drake Olson were third in their Porsche 962. Jeff Kline took his third Lights victory in the Alba AR4 Mazda, with Ron Nelson and Howard Siegel second in Tiga GT285 Mazda. Darin Brassfield was still on the winning trail and took the GT race over John┬áJones and Craig Carter in the Peerless Chevrolet Camaro. Bob Earl pleased himself with another class victory over Chris Cord and Jack Baldwin.
Road America was al Porsche, with Drake Olson and Bobby Rahal taking the win at the wheel of the Dyson Porsche 962. Bruce Leven and Bob Wollek finished second, with Jim Busby and Jochen Mass coming in third. Kelly Marsh and Ron Pawley won the Lights class while John Jones and Lyn St James won in GTO, with Chet Vincentz and Kees Nierop were second in a Porsche 934. Jack Baldwin and Jeff Kline won the GTU class in a Mazda RX7, followed by Chris Cord and Dennis Aase.

Darin Brassfield and Scott Pruett powered the Fordrd Thunderbird to the GTO win over Craig Carter and Billy Scyphers Chevrolet Camaro. Scott Schubot and Dennis Vitolo won their first Lights victory in the Essex Tiga GT285 Mazda. Pierre Honegger and David Loring were second in the Mazda GTP. Chris Cord and Dennis Aase won the GTU class in the Toyota Celica over Jack Baldwin in the Malibu Grand Prix Mazda RX7.
Watkins Glen belonged to Al Holbert and Derek Bell, who survived a tough race and won over Jochen Mass and Jim Busby, while Brian Redman and Hurley Haywood finished third. Lyn St James took the GTO victory and became the first female driver to win such an event. Jim Downing and John Maffucci won another Lights class over Kelly and Don Marsh, both teams driving an Argo JM16 Mazda. Jack Baldwin won the GTU class and clinched the championship here. Terry Visger ended up second.
The next race was a street race held at Columbus for the first time. The GT race was won by Steve Millen, who drove a Pontiac Firebird. He was followed by Lyn St James and Bruce Jenner, both running Ford Mustangs. Bob Earl won the GTU class in his Pontiac Fiero, ahead of Jack Baldwin and Chris Cord. Drake Olson and Price Cobb won the GTP race, followed by Bob Wollek-Mauro Baldi and Pete Halsmer-John Morton, al of them driving Porsche 962s. Jim Downing and John Maffucci took another Lights victory, while Charles Morgan and Bill Alsup finished second, driving a Royale RP40 Buick.
The Daytona Finale was won by Al Holbert-Al Unser Jr in the Löwenbrau Porsche 962. Brian Redman and Hurley Haywood were close second behind them. Pete Halsmer and John Morton took the third place. John Jones and Lyn St James won the GTO class in the Ford Mustang entered by Roush Protofab. Darin Brassfield and Scott Pruett finished second, four laps down, in the Brooks Racing Ford Thunderbird. Jim Downing and John Maffucci took another class win, followed by Brent O'neill and Mike Hackney in a Royale RP40 Buick, then Charles Morgan and Bill Alsupá, also in a Royale RP40 Buick. Chris Cord would end up a good GTU season by winning the race, followed by Al Bacon, and Amos Johnson-Jack Dunham, driving Mazda RX7s.
