1977 GTO facts
Al Holbert entered a phase 2 Dekon Chevrolet Monza which was more developed.
BMW now fielded a new 320 Tc driven by David Hobbs. The nimble car was very fast.
Carl Shafer entered his Chevrolet Camaro, now sporting a rear wing.
Ted Field, from Newport Beach, entered a pair of Porsche 934s, which he would drive with Danny Ongais. They wore a distinctive black with pink stripes livery.
Jim Busby also entered a Porsche 934.
George Dyer had also switched from a Porsche Carrera to a Porsche 934.
Chris Cord would field a Chevrolet Monza, which he would campaign for many seasons.
Bob Hagestad would team up with Hurley Haywood in a Porsche 934.
John Paul also had a Chevrolet Monza, which displayed his familiar blue and yellow colors.
John Greenwood entered by mid-season a new super Chevrolet Corvette, which sported a much more rounded shape.
Vasek Polak entered, in a sporadic way, a pair of Porsche 934. George Follmer and Milt Minter would be the drivers.
Charle Kemp still entered his Ford Cobra II, powered by a V8 Cleveland 6,5L.
Cliff Kearns, a bright newcomer to the series, entered a Porsche 934.
Dick Barbour, after running Daytona with a Ferrari 365GTB4, entered his own Porsche 934.
Hoyt Overbagh was campaigning a Chevrolet Monza, which he built, it was not so developed as the Dekon cars.
1977 GTU facts
Dennis Aase ran a very strong Porsche 911, and he was a very strong GTU contender.
Sam Posey was the lead driver for Bob Sharp Racing.
1977 AC facts
Tim and Joie Chitwood entered a Chevrolet Nova.
