Bruce Jenner
Drivers
Bruce Jenner is originally from Mount Kisco, New York. He attended Newtown High School in Newtown, Connecticut, after spending a year at Sleepy Hollow High School in Sleepy Hollow, New York. Jenner earned a football scholarship and attended Graceland College (now Graceland University) in Iowa, but a knee injury forced him to stop playing football and he switched to the decathlon. He was mentored by Graceland's track coach L. D. Weldon, who was the first to recognize Jenner's potential and encouraged him to pursue the decathlon. Jenner debuted in the decathlon at the Drake Relays in 1970, placing fifth. [...]
Street courses
Tracks
A street circuit is a circuit composed by temporarily closed-off public roads of a city, town or village, used in motor races. Facilities such as the paddock, pit boxes, fences and grandstands are usually placed temporarily and removed soon after the race is over but in modern times the pits, race control and main grandstands are sometimes permanently constructed in the area. Since the track surface is originally palnned for normal speeds, race drivers often found it bumpy and lacking grip. Run-off areas may be non-existent, which makes driving mistakes more expensive than in purpose-built circuits with wider run-off areas. Street circuits are often called pejoratively 'concrete canyons' because of the closeness of walls and narrowness.[...]
Roe/Selby Porsche 914/6
Cars
The car ended up its story at the end of the 1987 IMSA season as it was no longer eligible. Does anyone know anything about a car that nearly experience any dnf? While it may sound as extraordinary, this car did exist. Was it a megabucks car? No, it just happens to be a 1971 Porsche 914/6, which was driven by Tim Selby and Earl Roe. This car had started its long career in the hands of Wolfgang Maike, who sold it to racing whiz Bill Cuddy.[...]

SWEET HOME, ALABAMA
Sportscar racing in Alabama has some historical roots that take it back father in time than many might quickly recognize, reaching all the way back to a 1969 International Motor Sports Association race event just east of Birmingham.
"It was our second race," recalled IMSA founder and current Grand-Am Commissioner John Bishop earlier this week from his home near Ocala, Fla. [...]
Ferrari 365GTB4 at Daytona 1979
Cars
Human drama is an integral yet often overlooked element of Ferrari history. The 1979 24 Hours of Daytona illustrates this perfectly. Nineteen years ago, the classic American endurance race saw new pitted against old and the little guy taking on the big guys. And, against all odds, the little guy pulled it off. The effort's cornerstone was Ferrari's veteran warhorse, the 365 GTB/4 Daytona. Originally intended to be used solely on the street, with minor but proper modifications the Pininfarina-designed berlinetta proved to be a successful competition soldier in the first half of the Seventies..[...]
John Morton
Drivers
John Morton (born February 17, 1942) is an American racing driver from Waukegan, Illinois. After his father took him to a race at Road America in 1957, Morton became an avid racing fan. He went on to race jalopies in South Carolina before he dropped out of Clemson University to attend Carroll Shelby's racing school at Riverside Raceway in California. where his instructor was Peter Brock. One thing led to another, and soon John was working at Shelby, doing the odd job, sweeping floors, doing whatever it took. [...]
Mosport
Tracks
The circuit was the second purpose-built road race course in Canada after Westwood Motorsport Park in Coquitlam, British Columbia succeeding Edenvale (Stayner, Ontario), Port Albert, Ontario's Green Acres (ex-British Commonwealth Air Training Plan), and Nanticoke, Ontario's Harewood Acres (ex-British Commonwealth Air Training Plan Number One Bombing and Gunnery School), all airport circuits, as Ontario racing venues. It was designed and built in the late 1950s, and held its first major race on June 25, 1961, the Player's 200, a sports car race bringing drivers from the world over to rural Ontario.[...]
Nissan 200SX New Raytown
Cars
This 200sx was built by Don Preston Racing in the early 80's for Frank Carney, and the initial reported race condition was with a cross-flow twin cam four valve 2.3 liter naturally aspirated Nissan engine. The head configuration was an aftermarket piece by OS Giken of Japan. I got the following photos from Don Preston, which show the car as it was raced in 1983-1985. This configuration was not competitive in GTU and the decision was made to convert it to an L18 (1770 cc) turbocharged configuration.[...]
Rainer Neumann Ford Mustang
Cars
Destroying your racecar in an on-track altercation is a serious matter. If you need proof, the story of West Coast competitor Rainer Neumann ought to provide more than enough. Rainer may not have been nationally recognized, but his road-racing prowess under the Spectre Racing banner in the Bay area--he was from Belmont, California--certainly garnered attention among fans and competitors. His first race was at Laguna Seca on April 30, 1971, and on February 11, 1973, the aforementioned accident--at a rainy Riverside International Raceway--might have been the end of the story. [...]
Anatoly Arutunoff
Drivers
He became fascinated with cars when he was a toddler, and his entire life revolver around cars. He began with a motorbike, as many did, and he began cruising along his native town, which was Bartlesville, Oklahoma. His family emigrated from Russia, and his father was an figure in the oil industry, which meant that when they came to the USA, they had a somewhat comfortable lifestyle.[...]
