Jaguar debuted the season with a great 1-2 at Daytona. Davy Jones, Jan Lammers and Andy Wallace winning over Price Cobb, John Nielsen and Martin Brundle. Dominic Dobson, Sarel van der Merwe and Bob Wollek were the best Porsche drivers with the Havoline Porsche 962. Robin Gordon, Calvin Fish and Lyn St James won the GTO class in the Mercury Cougar XR7, Jim Downing, Amos Johnson, John O'steen and Pete Halsmer took the second place in the qiadrirotor Mazda RX7. The Lights class went to the Argo JM16 Mazda driven by Frank Jellinek, John Grooms and Michael Greenfield. Peter Uria, Bob Dotson, Jim Pace and Rusty Scott won the GTU class in the ex-Team Highball Mazda RX7. Alex Job, Chris Kraft, Buz McCall and Tommy Johnson took the second place in a Porsche 911.

Miami would be dominated by the two Nissan ZX Tc GTPs of Geoff Brabham, Chip Robinson and Bob Earl, who won over the BF Goodrich car driven by Kevin Cogan and John Paul Jr. James Weaver, co-driven by Scott Pruett was the best Porsche entrant in the Dyson Racing Porsche 962. Steve Millen won the GT race in his Nissan NISSAN 300ZX Tc, followed by Pete Halsmer, who drove a Mazda RX7. Dorsey Schroeder was third in a Mercury Cougar XR7. David Loring took the GTU win in his Nissan 240SX. Don Knowles took the second place in his Dodge Daytona. Tomas Lopez and Firmin Velez took a fine Lights win, finishing fourth overall, in the Works Spice SE90P Buick. Martino Finotto and Ruggero Melgrati finished second in the Bieri Racing Spice SE90P Ferrari.

The Nissan Motorsport team was left unchallenged at Sebring, with Derek Daly and Bob Earl finished ahead of yeammates Geoff Brabham, Chip Robinson and again Derek Daly. Davy Jones, Jan Lammers and Andy Wallace took third place in a Jaguar XJR12. Robby Gordon, Calvin Fish and Lyn St James made it two in a row by winning the GTO class, with Dorsey Schroeder and Max Jones in second place. Charles Morgan and Tom Hessert took the Lights class win in the Essex Spice SP89P Buick. David Loring, Butch Leitzinger and Chuck Kurtz dominated the GTU class, and left their closest opponent, which was the Mazda MX6 driven by Al Bacon, Lance Stewart and John Finger fourteen laps down.

Geoff Brabham and Derek Daly were dominant at Road Atlanta. They won over John Nielsen and Price Cobb's Jaguar XJR10. Drake Olson and Juan Fangio were in third place in the Eagle HF89 Toyota. Firmin Velez and Tomas Lopez were also unapproachable in the Lights class, David Tennyson and Calvin Fish ended in second place in a Spice SE90P Ferrari.

The Long Beach GT race saw Dorsey Schroeder take the win in his Mercury Cougar XR7. Pete Halsmer was second in his Mazda RX7 and Jeremy Dale was third in his Nissan 300ZX Tc. John Finger and Lance Stewart drove the two Mazda Motorsports Mazda MX6s the two first places. Vic Manuelli took the AAC win in his Mercury Capri.

No change to be recorded at West Palm Beach, Geoff Brabham and Derek Daly taking the win over Chip Robinson and Bob Earl. John Nielsen and Price Cobb finished in third place. Tomas Lopez and Firmin Velez took another Lights win in the works Spice SE90P Buick, this time just ahead of Ruggero Melgrati and David Tennyson's Spice SE89P Ferrari.

The Heartland Park at Topeka provided us with a big surprise when Juan Fangio II took the win with his Eagle HF89 Toyota. It was a close win over the Nissan ZX Tc GTP, but Chip Robinson and Geoff Brabham were nonetheless second. Bernard Jourdain took a fine third place in the works Spice SE90p Chevrolet. Scott Schubot and Linda Ludemann defeated the Tomas Lopez-Firmin Velez duo and won the Lights in their Spice SE88P Buick. Pete Halsmer gave Mazda his first GTO win over Robby Gordon, who drove a Mercury Cougar XR7, and Elliot Forbes Robinson, in the second Mazda RX7. Lance Stewart took the GTU win in his Mazda MX6, next was Bob Leitzinger, in his Nissan 240SX.

John Nielsen and Price Cobb took the victory at Lime Rock, followed by Wayne Taylor and Jim Miller, who drove their Spice SE89P Chevrolet to a fine second place. Chip Robinson and Geoff Brabham took third place in the Nissan ZX Tc GTP. Ruggero Melgrati and Martino Finotto won the Lights class over Tomas Lopez and Firmin Velez.

The new Nissan NPT90 was perfect for its very first race at Mid Ohio, with Geoff Brabham and Derek Daly winning over Chip Robinson and Bob Earl, who drove the ZX Tc GTP machine. Drake Olson took third place in the Eagle HF89 Toyota. Tomas Lopez, along with Perry McCarthy, won the Lights class over Charles Morgan and Tom Hessert in a Kudzu DG1 Buick. Pete Halsmer won the GT race over Dorsey Schroeder, in his Mercury Cougar XR7. Olivier Grouillard and Jean Pierre Jabouille finished in third place with the Ferrari F40LM. Stu Hayner won the GTU in his Dodge Daytona, Bob Leitzinger finished in second place. Clay Young drove his Chevrolet Beretta to the AAC win.

Steve Millen won the Mosport GT race in his Nissan 300ZX Tc. Jacques Laffite finished in second place in the Ferrari F40LM, with Robby Gordon in third place in the Mercury Cougar XR7. Don Knowles was right behind him and won the GTU class in his Dodge Daytona. Lance Stewart finished second in his Mazda MX6. Mark Porcaro won the AAC class in his Chevrolet Beretta.

Chip Robinson and Bob Earl drove the NPT90 to a new win at Watkins Glen. They were ahead of Hurley Haywood and James Weaver, in the Dyson Racing Porsche 962. Davy Jones and Alain Ferté finished third despite blowing an engine! Ruggero Melgrati and Martino Finotto took another Lights class win, ahead of Jim Downing and John Grooms Kudzu DG1 Mazda.

Meadowlands GT was an incredible race, with Robby Gordon taking the win by a scant margin. Pete Halsmer was second in his Mazda RX7. Jeremy Dale was third in his Nissan 300ZX. David Loring won the GTU class in his Nissan 240SX over Stu Hayner in a Dodge Daytona. Clay Young and Mark Porcaro's Chevrolet Berettas were the AC 1-2 finish.

Juan Fangio was lucky at Sears Point, as he won by less than one second margin over Geoff Brabham's Nissan NPT90. Chip Robinson was third. Tomas Lopez was co-driven by Dan Marvin and took another Lights class win over Charles Morgan and Tom Hessert Kudzu DG1 Buick.

At Portland, it was Jaguar which took the victory, with Davy Jones winning with the XJR10. Drake Olson's Eagle HF89 Toyota finished in third place. Tomas Lopez and Parker Johnstone won the Lights class, beating the Spice SE89P Ferrari driven by Martino Finotto and Ruggero Melgrati. Dorsey Schroeder win the GT race over the two Nissan 300ZX Tcs driven by Steve Millen and Jeremy Dale. Lance Stewart won the GTU class in his Mazda MX6, and Stu Hayner was second in his Dodge Daytona.

Geoff Brabham won the Road America 250Km, followed by Davy Jones Jaguar XJR10 and Juan Fangio's Eagle HF89 Toyota. Ruggero Melgrati and Martino Finotto won the Lights class over Tomas Lopez and Parker Johnstone's Spice SE90P Buick. Steve Millen won the GT race in his Nissan 300ZX, with Jean Pierre Jabouille in second place in his Ferrari F40LM. Lance Stewart took another GTU win in his Mazda MX6, followed by David Loring in his Nissan 240SX. Clay Young took another AAC class win in his Chevrolet Beretta.

Juan Fangio drove the new Eagle HF90 to victory at San Antonio, defeating the two Nissan NPT90s driven by Chip Robinson and Geoff Brabham. Tomas Lopez, again with Parker Johnstone, won the Lights class over Ken Knott-Aurelio Lopez, in a Spice SE88P Buick. Pete Halsmer took the GTO win in his Mazda RX7, with Jeremy Dale coming in second place in his Nissan 300ZX and Elliot Forbes Robinson's Mazda RX7. David Loring took the GTU win and was just ahead of Stu Hayner's Dodge Daytona. Kendall Cranston won the AAC class in his Chevrolet Camaro.

The Watkins Glen GT race was won by Dorsey Schroeder, who drove his Mercury Cougar XR7 to a fine win. Second was the 0123 Art Sports Ferrari F40LM driven by Hurley Haywood and Alain Ferté, who expired just before the checkered. Amos Johnson and John Finger finished in third place and took the GTU win over Stu Hayner, who drove a Mazda MX6 too.

The Lime Rock GT race was won by Robby Gordon, who finished ahead of Steve Millen and jeremy Dale's Nissan 300ZX Tcs. Don Knowles won the GTU class in his Dodge Daytona, followed by David Loring's Nissan 240SX and John Finger's Mazda MX6. Dan Osterholt won the AAC class in his Chevrolet Beretta.

The next race, held at Tampa, went to James Weaver's Porsche 962, who won the race over Chip Robinson's Nissan NPT90 . John Paul Jr finished third in the Seabroke Racing Nissan ZX Tc GTP. Martino Finotto and Ruggero Melgrati won the Lights class in the Spice SE90P Ferrari. Tomas Lopez and Firmin Velez finished second in the works Spice SE90P Buick.

At Del Mar, Juan Fangio II won the race over Davy Jones' Jaguar XJR10 and John Paul's Nissan ZX Tc GTP. Parker Johnstone and Doug Peterson won the Lights class in the Spice SE90P Pontiac entered by Comptech, just ahead of David Tennyson and Firmin Velez, in a Spice SE90P Ferrari. Robby Gordon won the GT race in the Mercury Cougar XR7 over Pete Halsmer's Mazda RX7 and Jeremy Dale's Nissan 300ZX Tc. Don Knowles won the GTU class in his Dodge Daytona. John Finger finished second in his Mazda MX6 and Don Reynolds was third in his Nissan 240SX. Mark Porcaro won the AAC class in his Chevrolet Beretta.
