The 24 Hours of Daytona saw a fantastic battle between the Porsche 962 driven by John Andretti, Derek Bell and Bob Wollek who won with less than one lap over the Jaguar XJR9 driven by Price Cobb, John Nielsen and Andy Wallace. Walter Brun, Hans Stuck and Oscar Larrauri finished third in the Brun Porsche 962. Pete Halsmer, Bob Earl and Paul Stewart won the GTO class with the new Mercury Cougar XR7, with Wally Dallenbach Jr, Dorsey Schroeder and Mark Martin second in class. Tom Hessert, Charles Morgan and John Morrison win the Lights class with the Essex Tiga GT286 Buick, well ahead of the Bieri Racing Tiga GT286 Ferrari driven by Uli Bieri, Paolo Guaitamacchi and Martino Finotto. Al Bacon, Bob Reed and Rod Millen won the GTU class in a Mazda RX7, overtaking the Nissan 240SX driven by Bob and Butch Leitzinger and Chuck Kurtz.

Geoff Brabham and Chip Robinson resumed their winning ways at Miami, with Price Cobb and John Nielsen finishing in second place. Albert Naon Jr and Jeff Kline drove the Works Spice Firebird to third place. Scott Schubot won the Lights class in his Spice SE88P Buick, ahead of Jim Downing and Howard Katz in an Argo JM19 Mazda. Pete Halsmer won the GT race in his Mercury Cougar XR7. Tom Kendall finished second in his Chevrolet Beretta and Fomfor was a surprising third in his Chevrolet Camaro. John Finger won the GTU class in his Mazda RX7, beating Bob Leitzinger in his Nissan 240SX. Ken Hendrick won the AC class in his Oldsmobile Toronado.

Geoff Brabham, Chip Robinson and Arie Luyendijk took their first enduro at the Sebring 12 Hour race. Price Cobb and John Nielsen took the second place in the Jaguar XJR9. James Weaver and Dominic Dobson finished in third place in a Porsche 962. Dan Marvin and Bob Lesnett took the Lights class in the Huffaker Spice Firebird, Tom Hessert and Charles Morgan finished second. Wally Dallenbach Jr won the GTO class with the Mercury Cougar XR7. Pete Halsmer and Bob Earl ran their car to second in class. Bart Kendall, George Robinson and Johnny Unser gave Pontiac its first great victory in GTU. They finished five laps ahead of Dick Greer, Mike Mees and John Finger's Mazda RX7.

Geoff Brabham and Chip Robinson won the GTP race at Road Atlanta over Price Cobb and John Nielsen's Jaguar XJR9. Gianpiero Moretti and Stanley Dickens drove the Momo Porsche 962 to third place. Scott Schubot won the Lights class, beating Jim Downing and Howard Katz' Argo JM19 Mazda.

At West Palm Beach, John Andretti and Bob Wollek took a surprise win, with Price Cobb and John Nielsen again taking second place. Drake Olson and Chris Cord took third place in the Toyota 88C. Scott Schubot and Linda Ludemann won the Lights class in the Spice SE88P Buick they entered, beating Tom Hessert and Charles Morgan's Spice SE88P Buick.

The Summit Point GT race was dominated by the two Audi 90 Quattros driven by Hans Stuck and Hurley Haywood. Pete Halsmer was third in his Mercury Cougar XR7. George Robinson took his first solo win in his Pontiac Fiero, ahead of Bob Leitzinger. Clay Young and son Chris won the AC class in his Pontiac Grand Prix.

Geoff Brabham took a solo win at Lime Rock, and the two Jaguar XJR9s driven by Jan Lammers and Price Cobb-John Nielsen were next. Charles Morgan and Jeff Purner took took the Lights win over Tom Hessert and Jeff Purner, doing double duty, in a Tiga GT286 Buick.

Geoff Brabham and Chip Robinson won at Mid Ohio, five seconds ahead of Price Cobb and John Nielsen. Gianpiero Moretti and Stanley Dickens took the third place in a Porsche 962C. Tom Hessert and Charles Morgan won the Lights class and finished fourth overall. Jim Downing and Howard Katz took the second place. Hans Stuck took the GT race, beating Wally Dallenbach Jr, in a Mercury Cougar XR7, and John Morton, in a Nissan 300ZX. Amos Johnson won the GTU class in his Mazda MX6, with John Hogdal taking second place in his Mazda RX7.

At Mosport, Pete Halsmer and Wally Dallenbach Jr took the win, followed by Jeremy Dale's Dodge Daytona, who won the GTU class. Bob Leitzinger was next, in his Nissan 240SX. Mark Porcaro and Clay Young won the AC class in a Chevrolet Beretta, followed by Dan Osterholt in another Chevrolet Beretta.

Geoff Brabham and Chip Robinson took the Watkins Glen round, but Jim Miller and Bob Earl did a great job and finished second in a Spice SE89P Chevrolet. Juan Fangio II and Drake Olson finished third with the Toyota 88C. Jim Downing and Howard Katz earned their first Lights win, beating Tom Hessert and Charles Morgan in a Spice SE88P Buick.

No change in plans at Road America for the Electramotive team. Geoff Brabham and Chip Robinson took the win, followed by Jan Lammers and Price Cobb in the Jaguar XJR10. Davy Jones and John Nielsen finished third in a Jaguar XJR9. Steve Millen led the Nissan 300ZX to his first win, beating the Audi 90 Quattro driven by Hurley Haywood and Scott Goodyear. Scott Schubot took another Lights win, with Charles Morgan and Tom Hessert second. Amos Johnson won the GTU class in a Mazda MX6, followed by Bob Leitzinger and Chuck Kurtz. Dan Osterholt took his first AC win in his Chevrolet Beretta.

Jan Lammers and Price Cobb enjoyed their first win at Portland, beating the two Nissan ZX Tc GTPs driven by Geoff Brabham and Chip Robinson. Jim Downing and Howard Katz won the Lights class, ahead of Scott Schubot and Linda Ludemann. Pete Halsmer took the GTO win over Hans Stuck and Steve Millen in his Nissan 300ZX.

Geoff Brabham and Chip Robinson posted a 1-2 at Heartland Park Topeka. Price Cobb and Jan Lammers finished in third place with the Jaguar XJR10. Scott Schubot and Linda Ludeman took another Lights win over Charles Morgan and Tom Hessert's Spice SE88P Buick. Hans Stuck and Hurley Haywood posted a fine 1-2 in the GT race. Pete Halsmer and Wally Dallenbach Jr were next in the Roush Mercury Cougar XR7s. Bob Leitzinger won the GTU class in his Nissan 240SX, followed by Lance Stewart in the Overton Racing Mazda RX7.

Chip Robinson won the San Antonio race over Juan Fangio II's Toyota 88C and John Andretti's Porsche 962. Scott Schubot and Linda Ludemann emerged as the Lights winners over Niki Leutwiler and David Rocha in the Huffaker Spice Firebird. Wally Dallenbach Jr won the GT race over Hans Stuck, in his Audi 90 Quattro, and Steve Millen, in his Nissan 300ZX. Bob Leitzinger won the GTU class over Kal Showket, who drove a Dodge Daytona.

Geoff Brabham won at Sears Point over teammate Chip Robinson for yet another Nissan 1-2. Davy Jones and John Nielsen took third place in the Jaguar XJR9. Scott Schubot and Linda Ludeman were the Lights winners over Jim Downing and Howard Katz Argo JM19 Mazda. Hans Stuck and Hurley Haywood were dominant in the GT race, followed by the two Mercury Cougar XR7s driven by Wally Dallenbach Jr and Pete Halsmer. Jeremy Dale took a great GTU victory in his Dodge Daytona over Lance Stewart's Mazda RX7 and Kal Showket's Dodge Daytona.

The Watkins Glen GT race was won by Hans Stuck-Walter Roehrl in the Audi 90 Quattro, just ahead of Hurley Haywood's car. Steve Millen was third in his Nissan 300ZX. Al Bacon won the GTU class in his Mazda MX6, followed by Peter Uria-Amos Johnson in a Mazda RX7. Robert Borders and Tom Ciccone won the AC class in a Chevrolet Beretta.

Price Cobb took the win at Florida State Fairgrounds, in Tampa, in his Jaguar XJR9. Second were Bob Earl and Jim Miller in a Spice SE89P Chevrolet. Bob Wollek and John Andretti finished in third place with the BF Goodrich Porsche 962C. Charles Morgan won the Lights class in his Spice SE88P Buick with Jim Downing and Howard Katz coming in second.

The Lime Rock GT race was won by Hans Stuck, who finished ahead of Pete Halsmer and teammate Hurley Haywood. Kal Showket won the GTU class in his Dodge Daytona, Bob Leitzinger finished second. Clay Young won the AC class in his Pontiac Grand Prix.

At the Laguna Seca GT race, Hans Stuck and Hurley Haywood were still dominant, and a new car would bring me excitement in the name of the Ferrari F40LM driven by Jean Alesi. He finished third. Jeremy Dale won the GTU class in his Dodge Daytona, followed by Bob Leitzinger's Nissan 240SX and Kal Showket, also in a Dodge Daytona.

At Del Mar, Jan Lammers took the last win of the season. His Jaguar XJR10 finished ahead of Geoff Brabham-Chip Robinson's Nissan ZX Tc GTP. Jim Miller and Bob Earl had another fine race and finished third in the Miller Motorsport Spice SE89P Chevrolet. Scott Schubot and Linda Ludemann won the Lights class over Ferdinand de Lesseps, Jay Cochran and Charles Morgan in a Tiga GT288 Buick. Wally Dallenbach Jr won the GT race, followed by teammate Pete Halsmer and Steve Millen. Jeremy Dale and Kal Showket were 1-2 in GTU, driving Dodge Daytonas.

Geoff Brabham took his second GTP title. Scott Schubot was the 1989 Lights Champion.
